Repair is the main reason I started Phenix Threads. On average in the USA, we buy 68 new garments a gear, and only wear them 7 times each before throwing them out. You do the math. That’s a big problem. Clothing should never be thought of as disposable. Clothing recycling programs do not work well if at all, and recycled fabrics are typically poor quality and shed more microplastics than new fabrics. Warranty and return programs are destructive and wasteful. It is extremely important to repair, modify, and improve the clothing and gear you already have.

Going shopping in your own closet is fun when you ask the question "how can I make these things exactly what I want them to be?". By choosing repair/modification you can create custom clothing and gear that suits your needs better than buying new. It's the way of our past, and the way of our future as well.
