Phenix Threads
The timeless alternative to Warranties and trash cans
Meet Ruby Spring
Hi, I’m Ruby, the owner and only employee of Phenix Threads. When I moved to Bellingham in 2018, I joined this community in our undying love of the outdoors. It is here that I began my adventures in rock climbing, skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, and trail running. I even have a dog now, which is pretty crazy for me.
But my adventures here also led me to see an irony that wouldn’t leave my mind. I noticed an inconsistency between humans who love nature, and nature itself, in the gear and clothing we buy, use, break, and throw away. I decided I would try to fix that problem by, well, fixing it ;).
I learned how to sew from my mother at age 6, spend most of high school drawing and painting in the art studio, and then went on to earn an Engineering degree from Olin College. So, combining all those things, it doesn’t surprise me I ended up here in the world of turning technical textiles into works of art. I love my job, and appreciate you choosing repair over warranties and trash cans.
My Mission
First, I am dedicated to providing top-notch repair, customization, and alteration services to keep your clothing and outdoor gear looking and performing at its best. Second (but no less important), I am committed to raising awareness about slow fashion, repair, and choosing better clothing/gear in my community.
