I love making custom garments!
This page is primarily for customers interested in Weatherwool hats/gloves/garments, but the same info applies to any custom item you might want.
A bit about me and my work: I have been making custom Weatherwool garments since I found them 5 years ago in a search for real fleece (aka wool!). I love working with their fabric, and have made custom coats, vests, pants, overalls, hats and gloves/mittens/glove-itts. Everything I make is made from start to finish by me in my little sewing studio in Bellingham, WA. My main sewing gig is repairing local garments and technical gear, in an effort to reduce the immense amount of waste caused by torn crotches, simple design mistakes, and busted zippers/seams. Although I love working with Weatherwool, it comes secondary to my community's needs, which means long turnaround times for you. But as a Weatherwool customer, I am sure you are used to that :).
Here's the dealio for gloves/mittens etc:
Mittens - $100 offered in midweight drab/lynx/black, fullweight drab/lynx/black, denim charcoal/blue
Gloves - $175 offered in midweight drab/lynx/black, denim charcoal/blue
Fingerless gloves - $175 offered in midweight drab/lynx/black, denim charcoal/blue
Glove-itts - $200 offered in midweight drab/lynx/black, denim charcoal/blue
Shipping/handling - typically $30
Gloves/mittens etc are custom and require a hand measurement, from base of wrist to tip of middle finger. Please Google "Hand Length Measurement" to make sure you do it correctly. Round up to the nearest 1/4". For gloves, which have a less forgiving fit than mittens/fingerless gloves, you may let me know if you have any special requirements for specific fingers. For example, I always have to shorten pinkies on my gloves because I have tiny-ass pinkies.
For other custom garments, pricing is typically around $300-$500 for fabric plus $500-1400 for the actual work depending on how simple/complex the garment is. I do have a cool overalls/bibs pattern I've used twice now for custom weatherwool pieces if you'd like to see pictures. I also ask that you only request custom garments that you truly need and cannot find anywhere else. I have very limited time, and am not interested in making luxury goods for people who already have a closet full of them.
Turnaround time is currently about 3-4 months, longer if your fabric choice runs out and I need to order more (also dependent on Weatherwool's available stock)
